Rugby World Cup Viewing 2020

Hendrik Kanise was one of the schools invited in Makana to view the Webb Ellis Rugby World Cup at the Grahamstown’s Indoor Sports Center. Rugby coaches and players also got a chance to to rub shoulders with the Springboks captin Siya Kolisi and hooker Bongi Mbonambi. Siya Kolisi said a few words of inspiration to the audience. Hendrik Kanise learners and faculty would like to thank Sifunda Kunye for financial assistance for transportation to attend this one in a life time opportunity.

Our learners were over the moon with joy, a never to be forgotten experience.

Sifunda Kunye Sports Tournament 2020

Our school participated in this year’s Sifunda kunye Sports tournament that was help at Toise Senior Secondary school at Kwanonkcampa. We had two teams in the tournament for Soccer and Netball and both those teams played 4 matches and won 3. With the 3 matched that we managed to win we came in 2nd place and that gave us an opportunity to get Silver medals. St Matthews came in 1st place and theyrecieved Gold medals, then Richard Varha came in 3rd.  and they received bronze medals.

Thank you to Sifunda Kunye organization for organizing these events and allowing us to partake in them. We do not only form bonds with other schools, we also form interminable relationships.

31 January 2020

On the 31st of January we were privileged to host our annual interhouses athletics at a local sports ground. And overall day of incredible results, broken records, outstanding individual and team efforts and crazy laughs. The day was beautiful even with the scorching weather, we managed to finish the event.

A massive well done and thank you to everyone who made it such a wonderful day.

Boys Netball

On the 1st of May the sports coordinators organised netball matches for the senior boys (Grade 9, 10, 11 & 12). The matches were very entertaining but the prize money was won by the very talented Grade 9s. The team had very talented individuals such as Liyema Ndzandze who got the man of the match title and Lindokuhle Matyhumza. The match was followed by the trials for School Girls Soccer team where the soccer coaches picked girls to form a school soccer team for girls.

Wishing good luck to the girls who got picked.

Netball term 2 2019

On the 9th of May the school visited Khayakhulu Primary School in Paterson where they had very entertaining matches of netball and soccer. The most important part about playing sport is having fun, winning is just a bonus. The under 11s and the under 15s of netball won their matches and the under 13s lost. In the soccer matches only one team won and the others lost. The score is not important as it wasn’t about that at all.

We hope to see Khayakhulu soon for return matches.

Sports day

On the 27th of February the school held a sort day. We played against Sandisulwazi High School from Paterson and George Jacques Primary School. The games were fun and entertaining. In sport, wining is not important. What’s more important is that you play, enjoy yourself and learn new things from the other teams. Winning is just a bonus.

Sifunda Kunye Sports Tournament 16 February 2019.

The school took part in this term’s Sifunda kunye sport event that took place in King Williams Town on the 16th of February.  It was the first time our school took part in this event as it occurs annually but our teams managed to make us proud. The teams that took part were our 1st teams for both Netball and soccer. Our soccer team won the soccer tournament and our netball team came in 4th place.

It was a very nice event to be part of and we would like to thank sifunda kunye and our partner school for such and amazing time the learners had enjoyed in the event.

Inter house sports 2019

Each year, right at the beginning of the year the school hosts interhouses. This year the event was hosted on the 18th of January 2019. This event allows the learners to compete in athletics and field events and the learners who have win in the events then proceed to compete in the district with other schools. This shows that there are other values that the school tries to instill in the learners besides books.

Well done to all the learners that participated and won, and we are hoping for more fun in the next coming years.

Faculty Soccer

TEACHER’S SPORTS
This term the teachers are trying new things, such as teaming up with the government workers to form Soccer team and play against local teams. This event takes place every once in a while where some of our teachers team up and have matches in the community sports ground. The team with the teachers in it have won most of the games.
