Where are they now -former students making is proud.

I am Simbulele Nelani, I grew up in Alicedale. I completed both primary and high school at Hendrick Kanise Combined School.

In 2017 I matriculated with a Bachelor Pass with distinctions in Tourism and Life Orientation.  In 2018 I was accepted to study at Rhodes University, Pursuing a Bachelor of arts degree majoring in Journalism, Media Studies and Organizational Psychology.

I finished my degree in 2021 and was conferred in 2022, 7th of April. The plans I have for the future are to work in a company where I can continue to grow and learn, and be able to utilize my media practitioner skills. I also plan into having my own production company-so I can create more job opportunities for others..

The motivation for learners- Listen to your teachers, because they want nothing but the best for you, believe in yourselves.

Where are they now – former student Zinzi Bikani

This is my story:

ZinZi Bikani (24 year old) born in Cape Town, my parents moved to Worcester when I was 1 or 2 years. I grew up in Worcester with my family. I did my primary school in Worcester and then I completed my High school in Alicedale at Hendrik Kanise Combined school.

After high school I applied for interior Design since I love designing and decorating. My application was not accepted . My high school mentor Miss Arnold made me love tourism so I decided to apply for tourism management or events management but my main focus was Tourism. In 2018 I started my studies and completed my National Diploma (4 year Program) in Cape Peninsula University of Technology .
In 2019 while I was studying I was working for City Sightseeing Bus head office in call center marketing.
The year 2020 came Covid, I was only studying. I am an entrepreneur, hard work and employment was my focus area.
Last year 2021 July I did an internship for 6 months, I was working for V&A Waterfront Head Office as a marketing intern. It wasn’t that tough working in marketing department as I was studying in the field of tourism. This year 2022 I was employed as a Marketing co-ordinator of V&A Waterfront head Office.
I’m currently continuing studying advanced Diploma in Tourism Management (BTech . So I’m working full time and studying.
My plans for the future  -I’m planning to study again next year another Advance diploma in Risk Management (Btech). My dream job is working as executive manager of risk management.

My advice for our younger generation, trust the process and challenge yourself in everything you do. Motivate yourself.

Have fun but limit yourself, don’t be pressured by friends and competition, work on bettering yourself for your future.

Ms & Mr Fresher

MS FRESHET AND MR FRESHER

We last held a show for new comers in 2018, and I think we all agree if we say, this was well needed after a tough two years of battling COVID and not being able to do any event at the school except for education programs. The Ms Freshet and Mr fresher show was once again a success and this is all thanks to the organizing team and the learner’s eagerness to participate in these extra mural activities.

And thanks once again to all the participants, parents and the learners for the endless support.

SPORTS AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

On the 4th of February the school held their annual inter-House athletics day. Athletics is a fully inclusive sport which covers a collection of running and throwing events. Competition formats including traditional track and field events. Some of the winners proceeded and took part in the Makanda District Athletics event that was held on the 12th February. It was really a tough competition and the kids enjoyed every last bit it even though luck was not their side.

It is a good thing that they participated, next time they will surely do better than they did.

Liyema Ndabambi grade 8

This is Liyema Ndabambi but here at school we know him as Mapoyoyo and is doing grade 8. Liyema is known for his artistry in music and drawing. The school is full of his drawing and we have recently use his art piece for heritage day. Liyema said his struggle is what motivates him because he wants to be the one to change his home situation one day. He has never had any one to teach him about drawing but his love for drawing and music is through his own motivation. He believes that he is his own artist as he is always motivating himself to do better and the he believes that no one can motivate him more than he does. The school has these drawings for the kids to play that he and the other kids have drawn.  This is all thanks to Mrs GxamzaJ

We wish him nothing but great things in life…

Dedication service 2019

Each year we invite learners from Grade 8 to Grade 11 to join us in a special service to dedicate the end of school year and praying for Grade 12’s. In the service, Grade 12 learners receive powerful words of encouragement from the Pastor and he also prays for them. They also receive final exam arrangements, time tables and exam numbers.

We hope and pray for better results each year.
